About the Text Compare
Find the differences between two versions of any text: code, configuration, logs or prose. Changes are shown side by side or in a unified view with changed words highlighted, unchanged stretches folded away, and options to ignore case and whitespace. Export the result as a standard unified diff.
How to use it
- Paste or drop the original and the changed text.
- Press Compare (or Ctrl/⌘ + Enter).
- Review the highlighted changes, then copy or download the diff.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I compare files?
- Yes. Open or drag and drop text files up to 50 MB on each side. They are read locally and never uploaded.
- Are line-ending differences shown?
- They are noted (for example CRLF versus LF) but not counted as changes, so Windows and Unix copies of the same file compare as equal.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser tab with JavaScript. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged or stored, and the page works offline once loaded.
