About the JSON Compare
Compare two JSON documents by structure rather than text, so reordered keys are not reported as changes. Array items can be matched by a key such as id, volatile fields like timestamps can be ignored by path, and removed properties and type changes are flagged as breaking changes, which is ideal for comparing API responses.
How to use it
- Paste the baseline and updated JSON.
- Optionally add ignored paths and choose how arrays are matched.
- Press Compare and filter the results by kind.
Frequently asked questions
- Does key order matter?
- No. Objects are compared by key, so {"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} are equal.
- How do I ignore fields such as timestamps?
- Add JSONPath-style patterns such as $.meta.requestId, $.items[*].updatedAt or $..etag to the ignored paths.
- Is my JSON uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser tab with JavaScript. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged or stored, and the page works offline once loaded.
